Lake America Fishing Report Lake America · Lake Ontario, New York

About this site

Lake America Fishing Report is an independent conditions dashboard and weekly report for anglers fishing the New York waters of Lake America — the lake most people here have always called Lake Ontario.

On the name

In August 2026 an executive order renamed Lake Ontario to Lake America in federal usage, and digital maps followed for users in the United States. Plenty of people on this shoreline are not happy about it, and this site takes no position on that. We use both names on every page for one reason: so an angler finds the water temperature they need no matter which name they type.

Where the data comes from

  • NOAA CO-OPS — nearshore water temperature, water level and wind at the port stations.
  • NOAA NDBC buoy 45012 — open-lake surface temperature, wave height and period.
  • National Weather Service — open-lake marine zone forecasts.
  • USGS — tributary discharge, gauge height and water temperature.

All of it is public domain and refreshed every three hours. Readings are automated and unverified. They are a starting point, not a marine forecast, and never a reason to leave the harbor in weather you would not otherwise fish.
