How this site makes money

Running this site costs almost nothing, but it does cost time, so here is exactly how it is paid for. No part of it changes what the conditions data says or which captains appear.

Charter listings

Listings in the charter directory are free for licensed captains. Some captains pay for a featured slot, which moves their listing to the top of the page and is always labelled Featured. Paying does not buy a recommendation, and no captain is ever excluded for not paying.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links are affiliate links, meaning this site may earn a small commission if you book or buy through them — at no extra cost to you. Those links are marked in the page code as sponsored, and there is a note wherever they appear. If a link is not marked, it is not an affiliate link.

Advertising

Display advertising may appear on the site. Ads are clearly separated from the content and advertisers have no say in what gets written or which numbers get published.

What is not for sale

The conditions data comes from NOAA and the USGS and is reproduced as published. Nobody can pay to change a water temperature, move a fishing report, or have a bad day on the water left out.
