LOC Derby 2027
The Lake Ontario Counties Trout & Salmon Derby, called the LOC Derby, lists Empire State Lake Ontario Promotions as its copyright holder. Its home page says "Mark your calendars for 2027!" and lists $140,150 in cash prizes across the 2027 LOC events. Winners of $2,000 or more must submit a W-9.
The organizer's rules page gives these 2027 dates:
| Derby | Dates | Ends |
|---|---|---|
| Spring | May 7-16, 2027 | 1:00 pm May 17 |
| Summer | July 3 - August 1, 2027 | 1:00 pm August 1 |
| Fall | August 20 - September 6, 2027 | 1:00 pm September 6 |
The home page text for these dates is cut off in places. We used the rules page. Check both again before you go.
Species and minimum weights
The rules page lists these minimums:
- Trout: 10 lb minimum in all three derbies. Steelhead and rainbow count as one species.
- Walleye: 8 lb minimum in the Spring and Fall derbies.
- Salmon: 20 lb minimum in the Spring and Summer derbies, 25 lb in the Fall derby. Chinook, coho and Atlantic salmon all count as salmon. Black salmon are not eligible.
Only salmon are eligible for the Grand Prize. For the fish themselves, see our king salmon page.
Who can enter and where
- Youth means ages 10 to 15 at registration. Adult means 16 and older. Youth and adult divisions have the same divisional and daily prizes.
- Derby employees and their families may fish but cannot win prizes.
- The derby covers U.S. and Canadian waters of Lake Ontario where lake regulations apply. On the Niagara River, the boundary for shore anglers is the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge, and boat anglers are bounded at Devils Hole.
We did not find entry fees on the home page or the rules page. Check the organizer's registration page for fees.
