Overview
- DEC 2023 annual report: walleye stocked in 2023 were pond fingerlings of the Oneida Lake strain: Niagara River 23,200 (2023-06-07) and Irondequoit Bay 12,400 (2023-06-13), 35,600 in total against a target of 36,000. [dec.ny.gov]
Current regulations (quoted from NY DEC)
- DEC: Walleye in Lake Ontario are open May 1 - March 15, minimum length 18", daily limit 3. [dec.ny.gov]
- DEC, Lower Niagara River: Walleye "January 1 - March 15", 18", limit 1; and "May 1 - December 31", 18", limit 3. Walleye are closed March 16 - April 30 in both the lake and the lower Niagara River. [dec.ny.gov]
- DEC Region 9 asks lower Niagara and Lake Ontario walleye anglers to deposit heads for otolith sampling at the Lewiston or Fort Niagara State Park fish cleaning stations. [dec.ny.gov]
